The sad horse and the boy
It was a tragedy that follows the Cartreras family until today. In 2003, on a very cold winter day Daniela drove together with her oldest, pregnant daughter, Aracely and her 12 year old grandson, Julio to their horse stables, outside the city. Daniela was a good driver, but the road was covered so much in ice, that even she struggled to beware control over the vehicle. On a railway cross, the cars engine stoped working and the car slipped and stucked into the snow. Daniela said that she intuitively asked Julio too went out of the car and ask someone for help. She later couldn't say, why she asked Julio to do this but her decision safed the boys life. He was just able to went out of the car, when he noticed the speeding train. He shouted, but his mother and grandmother weren't able to hear him and the train was not able to stop. In immense speed it crushed into the car and cut the car in two halfs. Daniela was dragged by the train and crushed with her upper body through the front glass. She broke her skulp, neck, and had serious abdomen injuries  and head injuries because of the glass. Her legs got crushed Completly. The train finally was able to stop, but the car wrack with Aracely inside expoled completely. While Daniela miraculously was able to surrive, there was nothing medics could do for Aracely. When they arrived she was already death. The driver of the train surrived but with severe injuries. At first, when everything happened Julio was in such a shock, that he didn't react at all. He was just standing and shaking until the first medics and police came. For Joanna, who had her second work day and arrived as one of the first it was everything but not what she expected from her first week of work. Especially cause Danielas youngest son Santi was he fiance. She had first noticed the little Julio who was trying to deal with the worst nightmare, a twelve year old could experience. The wrack of the train, of the leftovers of the car, the free-spirited, lifefull woman that died and the baby that never got the chance to see the world. Daniela was covered in blood , dirt and glass, her bones stucked out of the deformed body. Joanna never expect her first week to be like this. To just have to call her fiance on  second day of work and tell him, that his sister was death and his mother is in life threatening condition. Later everything went just in a rush. While Daniela was in surgery, Julio was still in shock. Soon arrived Danielas husband Hanno and her other daughters Eliza and  Gabriella. They only were not able to reach out Andy, Julios dad. He was in his music studio and was recording a new saxophone album with friends. He found out only really late, but was so shaken by everything, that he completely turned his back on his wife's family. He said that he want to be alone and left hospital without even looking at his son. He said that he can't take care of him and that he just want to be alone. During the first days nobody was paying any attention to Julio. Everybody was just so much in grief over Aracelys loss and in worry over Daniela that not one out of his family cared for him. Julio was in  a big trauma. He was constantly reliving the accident. Was constantly seeing the shattering and crushing and his death mother. He was shaking and silently crying. Nobody noticed, that he left hospital and nobody noticed where he went. He went by feet back to the place where the accident happened. There he layed himself on the rails, where even the blood had not dried completely and busted out into hysterical crying and weaping. He freezed. He was shaking like a lost rabbit and nobody was hearing his cries. It was so cold he freezed totally and fall asleep. When he woke up, he found himself in an unfamiliar house. A woman he never knew sat next to him, as well a policeman, a doctor and his aunt Eliza. He had a bad fever, so he imideatly fall asleep. As there was nobody who was able to care for him at the moment. Eliza made the decision together with Belle, the woman who found Julio, that Julio would live the next few weeks at her house. Belle had nothing against. She had three sons in the same age as Julio. Julio recovered fast from his sickness, but fall emotionally into even bigger depression. Belle spent hours with him. Was trying to do anything to lighten up his burdings, same did her husband but it was fruitful. Psychologists spoke to him other family friends spoke to him. But his pain was to big to be healed. Months go on. Daniela was still in comma, happened something unexpected. Belles niece Clea was visiting her aunt. She was two years old. Belle gave her a coloring book with horses. Something in Julios mind happened. At first he got extremly emotional and went to his room. When Belle came in to look after him he said, that he want to see his horse. Belle thought that maybe it would bring him some joy and agreed. The next morning she drove him to the stables. All horses inside were still like during the last time Julio saw them. On of a family friend had cared for them. Julio noticed that all horse looked the same, expect the horse of his mother. When he stroked over his fur, he noticed, how sad the horses eyes looked at him. As if itknew what hat happened and understood that Aracely would never ride him again. Julio stood several hours next to that horse. He was stroking it and talking with it. The next morning he called that one family friend and said him, that from that day he would care for the horses himself. For Belle it was a great joy. She was sure that spending time with the horses would help Julio a lot over his grief and she was right. He started to smile again. With every day she could see his eyes lingering more and more and the joy seemed to return to him. He was still terrified of cars and refused to drive. He was still very silent and reserved. His eyes were still full of pain, but he made progress with every day. Sometimes he spend six hours at the stables, caring for the horses and riding. Sometimes he toke Belles sons or nieces with him and teached them how to ride. He loved all horses, but not one horse he loved as much as his mothers former horse. He felt that her horse was the only one in the world, that truly understood him.
