Bengali and Nostalgia
Nostalgia for us i.e. Bengalis is a way of living life. In nostalgia, Bengalis exist. Whether that means using the same torn apart football or using the same old grinding stone to grand spices instead of using the mixer grinder.
Keeping the broken apart scooter locked inside the garage so that no one can sell it is also a part of nostalgia for us even though the person has a Mercedes parked outside.
Well these days most of the people prefer having a cup of coffee in those beautiful cafeterias but a Bengali that too a software engineer still doesn't end his day without having a cup of tea or bhar (clay pots) in Nantu Da's tea shop. He loves to sit in these dust ridden benches than those well furnished chairs and listens to " Ei path jodi na shesh hoy" that's being played in the radio.
Another instance, technology has made a big impact in our daily lives, whether that being visiting a doctor or visiting our loved ones. But a Bengali always wishes to propose a girl through a hand written letter instead of a whatsapp message which is much more safer than the letter cause a letter can reach a different person or can be caught by her father which ultimately may lead to a clutter.
Before I end this, you know firstly I wrote this in a diary that is dated back to 97. I wasn't even born then, it belongs to my mother. What a great coincidence this is!!!!
