Asheim
CHAPTER ONE
Ransom twitched his black ears, the cool night air blowing through his mane and tail. The foal soon to be accompanied by a horse chosen by the Boss Mare herself to show Ransom the ways of the Asheim Herd. He flared his nostrils, breathing in the sweet smell of the deep, dark forest that kept the heart of Asheim hidden from all the other Herds. Ransom turned around, galloping down off the hill back towards home. The damp earth below his hooves, the dew from the trees dripping onto his night black and white coat.
He reduced himself into a trot, his ears rotating to pick up on the slightest of voices until he came to a massive bramble wall. Ransom easily edged around it, taking one of the hidden entrances inside and into the moon filtered clearing.
He looked around, not much of the herd was up this late except for a few horses who were assigned to watch over the Herd tonight. Ransom shook his head, fluffing his mane out and prancing over to one horses guarding.
"Hi Artax!" Ransom exclaimed, looking up to the huge Mustang towering over him.
"What do you need, foal," Artax grumbled "You should be in bed right now." Ransom frowned, then plopped down into a sitting position. Artax narrowed her eyes.
"Have you ever met any of the Herds...
