Furneral of a city: edited chapter one
The 25th September began for Alfred Maurer, the mayor of the city of Kies more or less normally. At the same time as usual, he had gone down to the town hall, where he had held several conferences with important representatives, counselors and hall staff members. He had signed several files and letters, wrote a newspaper commentary on the occasion of Della Acedo's death and prepared a speech for an upcoming meeting with some agents. This work was routine for him. As a mayor he had been doing this work for the last 35 years. The weather has changed a lot over the last week. To Alfred's relief, the much too hot summer was finally over, not that he liked the wet autumn much more, but autumne brought a lot of joy and life into the city. Alfred relived many memories and magic moments in his head, the brightness, the cheerful atmosphere. It was was the most beautiful night and the most exciting event of the year, for which people prepared for months. The wind got stronger so Alfred got up and went to the window to close it. He thought about the midnight show, the many music performances, the attractions, the food, the ice skating rink. The Kirmisnight was the night in which everything seemed to be possible in which for 12 hours all conflicts, hostilities and worries could be forgotten and the happiness and blessing of living in Kies and being a member of Kids would be celebrated. Alfred looked at his wristwatch and noticed how his nervousness raised and how his hands and neck got sweatful.
