Chapter one

Ogechi decided to visit Chima. This was the right opportunity for her, Mama has left for her women's meeting, Papa had gone to Dede Maya concerning Chidera's traditional marriage coming up in a few months time. Chiyemkem and Chisom has gone to church for the children's rehearsal. She went in to the room which she and Chidera shared. She went to where Chidera kept her make-up. She picked up a lip stick, applied it to her lips, then pressing her lips together, so it would spread, she took a mascara and applied it on her eyelids. Then, she took the plastic, oval shape mirror which had a handle on which she held. It had been a gift to Chidera from Ugo. Sweet, lovely Ugochukwu. If only it was Ugo, Chidera was getting married to, she would have been the happiest girl on Earth! But their relationship had ended and it ended in a jiffy. Ogechi did not know what brought about the break-up but she definitely knew that... that pompous fool was involved, what was that his name again? Okechukwu was it? That definitely his name, Oke! Boys with that name Okechukwu was never up to anything good. They are always bad news! And Chidera's Okechukwu was the worst of all Okes! He was pompous, a snub, a braggart! What in God's name attracted Chidera to such a person?
She was sure that nothing attracted Chidera except his father's wealth, his father was the richest man in their community and that made almost every girl to fall at his feet.
"Why am I thinking all this now?" She thought aloud. Finally, she is going to visit Chima. Chima had given her numerous invites to his place but she had turned them down! Mama will kill her if she finds out Oge had gone to visit a boy, but who will ever find out and tell Mama? Is it she Ogechi? She laughed. Never! She laughed so more rechecking her face at the mirror finally keeping it at it's normal position.
When she got to Chima's room, she felt uncomfortable maybe Mama was right, it was not a good idea visiting a boy.
" Is anything wrong Oge?" Chima asked, with a tap on her shoulder. Has he been talking to her? She had not even noticed when he walked in.
"No, nothing" she lied. Of course something was wrong, she was scared!
"I sent this small small children to buy you maltina. You know that you are my heart and I love you." He said with a smile on his face.
"I hope you did not tell anyone that I am here? People in this village talk more than parrots." She asked, her heart had already began pounding from fear of being caught....
