Copacabana p4
I was getting fresh now and my balance was on it's way out. Lola, on the other hand, looked like she had only been drinking water. As she walked back to the table she moved with grace and walked in perfectly straight lines where possible. She sat back down and started her tale again.

"Part of my job was to work the room. You know what I mean to speak to the clients and make sure they were happy that sort of thing."

I nodded in understanding.

"I couldn't wait to finish my routine and get to this man. Tony would not take his eye's off me. I danced and sang my heart out instead of just going through the motions. My final song and dance were over and the applause came. I wanted them to end so I could get off the stage. They soon died down but it felt like an eternity. I casually walked down the steps into the crowded tables. Some men would try and grab at me as I went but that was all part of it and I just brushed them off. I sat at the table with a single handsome man. We introduced our selves and started to talk. Daniel that was the man's name by the way. He talked with a thick New York accent and it drove me whiled. It turned out that he had been coming into the club for months just to see me. He had vowed to himself that he would do whatever it took to get a date from me he had never been able to get so close to the stage before so I hadn't seen him. Get the drinks in kid my mouth is getting dry due to all this talking. You know how it is."

I waved to the barman and held up my glass. He gave me a thumbs up. I could see this was upsetting Lola and wounded if I should stop her story.

"Lola if you want to stop you can. I don't mind."

"Don't be stupid kid im fine just happy and sad memories is all. I'm old now and I need to tell my story. everyone thinks im mad you know. I'm not just in morning. Anyway, where was I."

She gave a little pause and I wondered if I should help her to remember. just as I was about to she spoke again.

"Ah yes, Daniel was so easy to talk to no sleez or rude comments just pure class. It confused the shit out of me why he was showing me any attention at all. You know I liked it and I liked him so I didn't care why. I sat there laughing and being flattered for longer than I should I guess. others were getting annoyed about being left alone. Tony had noticed as well and was not happy."
