The Alone Witch
#WritcoStoryPrompt38
The two girls jumped over the hopscotch they had drawn on the curb with white chalk. It was their favourite game and they would be at it for hours.

On this particular day a etheric feeling hung in the air giving both a gleeful feeling and a sense of apprehension. For it was fall you see and the two girls had not appreciated the yellowing of the leaves about to fall. Nor the change in the air and the breeze blowing over from their neighbors house.

Their neighbor Amy, who spied on the two girls Sophie and Abbie. Abbie with her dark black curls and Sophie with her crimson overalls. Amy though was envious of their outdoor play. She was a witch, and as her witch household told her she was to remain indoors during the time of harvest for they must wait until the Hallowed Eves to play tricks and have their fun.

But Amy was determined to come out and play. The two girls accross the street seemed to be having so much fun. Amy sighed as another guy of wind stirred up leaves around the two girls playing hopscotch. She then realized that all she had to do was sneak out the window that lead to the garden to get out. Fortunately this was easy as her mothers never checked it.

She glanced around at the dark and barren living room and made way for her escape. She peeked out to the garden which was shrivelling and then took her steps out, her luminous blond hair almost getting caught in the window as it shut. But she had made it. She sauntered accross the street to the Abbie and Sophie who graciously waved. "May I play?" She asked kindly.

"Of course." The two girls replied almost in sync.

"Two of us is quite boring, but three is more like it." Abbie exclaimed.

And they set about playing hopscotch, laughing and bringing goodness to the fall day.
