Is Change a good thing? (Part 2- to be continued)
After fighting off Night Prowler, Ember and I had got back together. It had been 2 months since then, and we stood in my kitchen having an argument as she was making lunch for us.
“Jake, I am so tired of having to deal with all your anger outbursts and icy emotions! Having to stay by your side all day every day is just too much to ask of me! I need some time to be by myself!” Ember shouted at me.
“Ember, you know I can’t control it! Ever since the experiment, it just takes over! Only being with you prevents the iciness,” I shouted back feeling wounded by her words.
“Well, you should never have done the experiment in the first place!” Ember replied.
“I wouldn’t have done it, if you had accepted my proposal! I had been rejected so many times in my life, I did not need it from you too!” I replied with a wounded look in my eyes.
“Well, I wasn’t ready, you were just moving too fast! It’s not my fault you pushed me away! I didn’t break up with you, you did that all by yourself,” Ember said while getting even more upset as she turned her back on me.
“Maybe you just are not capable of commitment! That is what we are fighting about anyway, right?! I mean, you don’t want to be around me, so just leave me then!” I shouted as my hair turned white due to my anger. (I guess I should mention that my ice powers start taking over when I get mad, not just when I am cold). I still had regular skin color and brown eyes, so I was not Frostbite just yet.
“Of course I can be committed, just maybe not to you!” Ember replied as she rushed out the door and slammed it without looking back.
I stood there, shocked at what had just happened.
“What did I just do…” I thought to myself. I felt my chest beginning to pain.
“No no no no… not now… I need to warm up, and fast!” I shouted into my house. I took a steaming hot shower and grabbed a heating blanket and some hot chocolate and sat on my couch. My hair returned to its normal blond color and I let out a sigh of relief.
“This is not good. What am I going to do without Ember? I need her to stay warm, always…” I mumbled to myself.
“I am doomed!” I shouted into the house as I sobbed trying to figure out how to keep myself from becoming Frostbite. Just then, I heard somebody walking around outside of my house, and then a knock on my door. I went and looked outside and saw nobody.
“Huh… that’s weird… probably just a kid doing a prank knock,” I thought to myself. Just then there was another knock at the door, so I went back over and opened it. There was nobody there again, so I walked outside leaving the door open as I scanned my whole front yard. I heard the door shut behind me, and turned around.
“It wasn’t locked, so maybe the wind just blew it shut,” I thought to myself. I went back inside and saw someone sitting on my couch. It was a girl with long blond straight hair, a blue t-shirt and jeans. I stood there in shock, trying to figure out how she got in my house, and why she...
