A short story. One of many which chronicles a much bigger project I have been working on for about 3 years. - Feedback and criticism greatly appreciated. Anni Furlong just graduated college and moved into a small, secluded modular home. With a 3.5 acre plot of land located in Moscow Mills Missouri. Very private with no neighbor for at least a mile. This is just how 26 year old Anni wanted it.
While attending college Anni met a few people. People who were pursuing the same career path. This is what led to her final decision to work for Child Protective Services. Particularly in the Lincoln county/Bowling Green offices. Where protecting children is hardly the case.
A benevolent act which hides the true nature of the business. And that is exactly what CPS is; a for profit business. These people use the same tactics as a sleazy salesman. Except in this case it is so much worse. Help is not at all in their agenda.
For now, the focus is on Anni Furlong. For Anni, things are looking good. She even has an interview scheduled for this week with the CPS agency in Troy. The most corrupt town in Missouri. Unfortunately, Anni has let money overthrow her decentsy to do good.
