Conflagration - Part 5
"It's over, Cyberein! The children already told me! I know you're out here!", Stone Master Zoba yelled into the distance. Some tree stumps were still smoldering. Wild whisps of smoke sprang through the thinly hardened lava. Minor tremors readily ripped rifts in the newly acquired earth beneath Zoba's feet. "This planet is governed by The Outer Galactic Star Systems Republic! We cannot leave without their order!", Zoba continued as he slowly shuffled over the hellish terrain. A monstrous roar rippled over the hills in the distance. "So you are here.", Zoba whispered quietly to himself. "Haven't you got time for an old friend?!", Zoba shouted. Another roar echoed. But it was much closer. "Cyberein, let's talk about this!", Zoba continued. Suddenly a dark green colored dragon crashed from behind a cliff and into open terrain. The dragon stood over Zoba and began to vibrate his massive scaled chest.
"Denygar, he's dangerous!", Cyberein's ghastly voice rang out. The green dragon spread its orange trimmed wings then flew up and away. Only briefly trying to intimidate the tiny bronze skinned alien. Zoba hadn't even blinked. He may have only been four feet tall but Cyberein was correct, this tiny alien, Stone Master Zoba was, in fact, very dangerous. But he was also very restrained. Never charging into a battle. Cyberein had announced his presence but hadn't appeared before Zoba for a reason.
"I'm not here for a fight!", Zoba reassured the ancient beast. "I want to talk.", Zoba softened his tone and stopped shouting.
"Then talk, old friend.", Cyberein roared slightly on the tail end of the words then crept into the open with Zoba. "Trust.", Cyberein continued. The dragon's black scales glinted and glimmered in the sunlight. The bright golden scales around his mouth and eyes had dulled since the last time Zoba laid eyes on the beast. He seemed older, wiser but still laden with the fires of his youth. Some of his black scales had even greyed slightly. Zoba felt he could trust the dragon in this instance.
"Is it true?", Zoba inquired. "We have to leave?", he asked softly.
"Yes. The Bloom is set to happen in a matter of weeks.", Cyberein replied.
"Then I have to have the books.", Zoba said adamantly.
"I'd never hand over the library to an agent of The Dvenin!", Cyberein roared furiously.
"The Academy was destroyed in orbit above our heads, Cyberein. The Il-Kamin destroyed it. Its pieces WILL rain down on Sorendal. The OGSR is tied up fighting The AVR and cannot send any recovery ships. This planet is dead. I have to have the books... otherwise they will be destroyed.", Zoba said his head tilted forward slightly into a sorrowful prayer position.
