The Bed's Protection
As soon as he lay down in bed, Alex knew something was wrong. The pillow beneath his head felt unusually heavy and suffocating, like it was pressing down on him with a will of its own. He tried to toss it aside, but his arms felt heavy and uncooperative, and he realized with horror that he was paralyzed.

He tried to scream, but no sound came out. His heart pounded in his chest as he felt the pillow slowly creeping up his face, smothering him inch by inch. Just when he thought he couldn't hold on any longer, the bed suddenly shifted beneath him, and he felt himself being jolted awake.

Panting and sweating, Alex sat up in bed, his heart still racing. He looked around the dark room, trying to make sense of what had just happened. It was only when he looked down at his bed that he saw the reason for his sudden awakening.

The mattress and sheets were twisted and contorted, as if something had been struggling beneath them. And in the center of it all, the pillow lay discarded on the floor, as if it had been forcibly removed.

Alex shuddered, realizing that the bed itself had saved him from the pillow's deadly embrace.

Alex sat on the edge of the bed, looking at the crumpled sheets and twisted mattress in awe. He couldn't believe that the bed had somehow saved him from the murderous pillow. He reached out and patted the mattress, as if thanking it for its heroic deed.

"Thank you," he whispered to the bed. "I don't know how you did it, but you saved my life."

The bed didn't respond, of course, but Alex felt a strange sense of comfort and safety just being near it. He lay back down, pulling the sheets up to his chin, and closed his eyes.

As he drifted off to sleep, he felt the bed shift beneath him, almost as if it were settling in for the night. He smiled to himself, feeling a newfound sense of contentment and happiness. This was where he belonged, he realized. In this bed, with its protective embrace and soothing presence.

"I'm never leaving you again," he whispered to the bed. "I'll sleep forever, if that's what it takes to be with you."

He knew it sounded crazy, but he didn't care. As long as he was with the bed, he felt safe and happy. And that was all that mattered.
