I heard my parents arguing about something that was none of my business, so I saw this as the perfect opportunity to slip out. thankfully, my phone was nearly full but it was enough to take me through the whole journey and back
FLASHBACK:
I was in the hostel studying for a presentation I had in a few weeks when I was greeted by a lecturer who told me that I was being suspended, when I asked why, he said he didn't know and they wouldn't tell him, he said he was asked to deliver the message to me and tell me to leave the premises in the next hour, "For how long will I be gone?", I asked the lecturer, "A month", he simply said, "A month, how am I supposed to cope with that, I have a presentation in a few weeks and I'm being suspended for a month for a crime I know nothing about, It's not fair sir", I said trying to smart him to let me stay, "I know but there's nothing we can do, if you're not out by the next hour, all your things will be moved out, and as for your presentation, I spoke with your lecturer and he agreed to postpone it till you return", Thank you sir", I said as I prepared my things to start leaving.
I finished packing the things I needed, although I didn't take all my things with me, "Sir please before I leave, can I see my friend", I said, he nodded and asked me his name, I mentioned it to him and he told me to wait for him. A few minutes later, he came back with him(my friend), and I told the lecturer to give us some time alone, he nodded and told me to be fast that I only have a few minutes before they come to check if I've left, I nodded and thanked him again before he left. "What's going on and whose coming to see if you've left?", my friend asked me confused, "I briefed him on the situation, and after my story, he wore a face of shock, "Did they tell you what your crime was?", he asked, "They didn't tell me that either. I need you to look after my things until I get back", I said, "Sure, no problem", "Thanks and I also need you to inform me of anything suspicious to you, anything at all, just chat me", I told him, "No problem, now go before they come for you", he said with a face of worry and with that I left the premises.

Few weeks into my suspension, I got a text from my friend telling me that someone is after him, that he overheard some guys talking about taking care of him by 12:00pm the next day, I texted him back if he has told anyone else, and I haven't gotten any response from him since then hence my worry, and why I'm doing what I'm doing.
It was remaining 2 more weeks before the end of my suspension, but I couldn't wait, my friend was in danger, and I didn't have a problem my parents won't even notice I'm gone for a while, so with that I left taking what I brought with me when I left for my suspension, and transport fare. I was lucky to see my aunt when I came down, I asked her to drop me off at the school I once taught and she surprisingly agreed, I got on and she took me there.
I was at school of nursing but I wanted my aunt to be out of sight before going upwards. When she left I began heading up towards college junction, I stopped a bike and requested him to drop me off at NNPC, he agreed and carried me. On the way, as if sensing I was tensed, the man asked what the matter was and I replied that a friend of mine was in danger that I need to get to NNPC and board a bus to his location before I will be too late, the man nodded, and increased his speed.
Thanks to the driver speeding up, I got to NNPC earlier than I expected, and as I was about to pay the driver, he said not to worry about it that I should hurry and save my friend. He gave me his card and said to call him to give him updates on the situation, I nodded, thanked him and searched for a bus that would take me to my next destination and since I was familiar with the path, I didn't find it difficult to get to where I was headed.
I just came down at my first stop and I was heading to the second one, I looked at the time and it was already 10:29am, I rushed to the next bus stop and boarded the bus to my last stop, '2nd Junction', and as the journey began I kept chanting, 'Pls be alive, pls be alive' over and over again, until I reached the campus, and I texted him if he was alright, he still didn't reply, but as I started to panic, he texted me that he was okay for now, hearing that I rushed to my hostel as that was where he said he was. On my way to the hostel when I saw Julie Ann and her sister, Juliet, they were packing some luggages into the trunk of a car, I thought they were leaving but paid no attention as I was heading to see if my friend was still alive, Julie Ann seemed to notice me, she called out to me but I was to worried to hear her, and with that I rushed to the hostel.
I was standing at the door to my room and as I was about opening it, it opened and a muscular figure accompanied by 2 other guys and 1 girl, "Fredrick??", it sounded more like a question, what was he doing here, then it hit me, 12:00 noon, a hit on my friend it was him, "Jackson, what are you doing back here, you're supposed to be at home", Fredrick said with a look of surprise and somewhat shock as if he didn't expect it, "well I'm back and I would like to know what my friend did to you", I said walking slowly towards him with my hands folded to fists, "It's none of your business", he casually said, "You made it my business when you hurt someone I cared about", I said and gave him a punch followed by another one and another one, those who followed him we're about to separate us but refrained when I glares at them, then out of nowhere, Julie Ann came and pried me away from Fredrick, "Just hope I don't see you around, or you're dead", I said boiling all over, "What has gotten into you?", Julie Ann asked with shock written all over her face, I hadn't hit someone that hard neither had I been this aggressive since the incident where my mum was insulted by a guy, I ran inside after Julie Ann broke the fight and Fredrick's associates took him, more like dragged him out of there. I saw my friend on the floor with blood all over , I saw where it was originating from and raised his shirt to see a slightly deep cut, he passed out, I brought my bag and took out my gloves, scissors iodine, cotton balls and a tiny bottle that had powder in it, I slowly applied the iodine to the cut and cleaned the blood around the cut, then I applied some directly on the cut. Julie Ann was behind me observing what I was doing, I then spread the powdered drug on the cut that was immersed in iodine, I waited for it to soak before spreading it through out the cut, "Pleas help me put some cotton on it and bandage it while I clean the blood", I said to Julie Ann, "Okay, but what was that powdered substance you applied to his wound? I don't think I know it", she curiously asked, "It was a drug I invented for both deep cuts and minor injuries, I've tested it and found its effect so that's why I used it on him, he should be fully recovered by next week tops", I said as I cleaned all the blood.
I finished cleaning up the blood and as I looked at my friend my rage came back and I was about to stand up and go look for Fredrick, when Julie Ann held my hand, "And where do you think you're going?", she asked crunching her eyebrows, "Don't you think you've punished Fredrick enough, just let it go, I don't want to see you end up in another mess because of this", she said, I was a bit hesitant, "... Please, for my sake", I looked at her and then to my friend and I started to calm down, I guess that's why she's my sister, I smiled at her and helped he in bandaging my friend.
"I better start going back, I took a big rush coming here", I said as we finished dressing uy friends wounds and laid him on the bed, "Go, I'll take care of him and your things", she said as if reading my mind, "But once you return, you'll have to teach me how you make those your drugs and remedies", she added, "Okay, thanks sis", I said as I left, I was incredibly lucky to have Julie Ann as a friend and sister, I thought to myself as I headed back home
