Me and my sister were crying and shouting mummy comes back, we were not done talking when she vanished, we were still crying when our step mother walked in to us and asked us to keep quiet, we obeyed her since she is still like a mother, she mocked us and said my mother deserves what has happened to her, immediately she uttered that word, I get up like an angry and hungry lion to tear her apart, i just need to calm myself down before they will said, tradition this and that, we woke up the next day only to see almost all the villagers running to the palace, me and my sister were confused, we asked people what the matter was but they were not ready to tell us, or has another person go against tradition again? My sister asked me, I was forced to smile, i don't think so i said as we joined the rest of the villagers to the palace, everyone was shouting abomination, immediately i started hearing abormimation, I said to my sister,you might be right o, this one everyone is behaving like rapture is about to take place, I was patiently waiting for the king to comes out so my ears can hear what the matter is, it seem serious than i thought, it was not tradition but calamity befalling the land, the biggest river in our village that supply water to the seven kingdoms completely turn blood, completely red, the king was shocked and wondered what and where they have gone wrong for the gods to send them such a terrible warning signs, call the chief priest for me immediately the king said to one of his guard, no need am here the chief priest said as he appeared before the king, eyes of the gods, the heart beat of our accestors,the lion of uzor kingdom, what is happening, the king asked the chief priest, I see dangers, I smell death, I heard the voice of one crying in the wilderness, I heard a voice seeking for revenge but I don't know whom's voice was that, I have consulted the gods but they are yet to speak to me your majesty, the chief priests said, eyes of the gods, please consult the gods again, something has to be done now, the chief priest chew his bitter kola as he begin go call the names of the three gods immediately, the answered he seek was not given but a temporary solution was given to him, the gods required blood of three virgins to cleans the water, them lets be fast about it, you know the seven kingdoms depends on this water the king said, hearing the king's reply, the whole village was not in peace as virgins running up and down looking for who will disflower them, I rushed to hide my sister in my room to avoid stories that touches the heart, I locked her up in my room guilding her, I was still on guard when two guards from the palace came to tell me that the king asked to see me and my sister at the palace now, I was shaking and trembling in fear, my sister traveled but tell the king i will me there immediately, alright the guards said, just then i heard a voice behind me, he is lieing, his sister is inside, I turned it was my step mother, before I could denied it the guards pushed me from the door and dragged me and my sister to the palace, we got to the palace with mind still beating like the village drum, I almost faint when i saw the king stand with the chief priest, I smell virginity the eyes of the gods said, then what are we still waiting for? That means the girls are complete, take her to the shrine immediately the king said, at this point my life is no longer important to me, in fact i don't need it, I drew a cutlass from one of the guard and behead him, I was about taking the second one down when the chief priest strike me down with his magical power, I was lying helplessly on the floor as i watched the palace guards dragged my only sister, the only reason am still living to the village shrine, what a tradition i said, a day was fixed for the sacrifices, the king promised to rewards the family of the three virgins that will be sacrifice but as for me am not interested, the chief priest took the three girls to the bloodly river along with the villagers, right in my eyes he beheaded two virgins making incantations and spreading their bloods in the river, it was my sister's turned, I can't hold myself, i was crying and calling the spirit of our mother to comes to our aid, I watched as the chief priest raised his cutlass high in the sky to behead my lovely sister, something happens, the chief priest's hand remains in the sky, he went blind immediately, he fell to the ground few minutes later , the whole villagers were running for their dear life including the king, I rushed to my sister and helped her up as we joined the villagers to ran for our dare life
