The story of Mmachi.
There live an eight years old girl from the rural area called Ezeugo village, her name is Mmachi. All her life she dreamt on going to the city to become a star in singing because she has been seeing people singing on Mr Jack's television. Mr Jack is a retired civil servant from the city and he is Mmachi's neighbours. Mmachi likes going to his house to chitchat with him, he tells her alot about people and life in the city. Mmachi always dreamt of going to the city one day and become a star, that everyone in her village will see her on television.
She loves singing, but her peers makes fun of her that she doesn't know how to sing, but she's not aware that they were only jealous of her, cause they could not sing like her. They called her all sorts of names. Her best friend is Mr Jack, he always encourage her and taught her to believe in herself.
Mmachi lives with her dad in a thatched house. She lost her mom when she was two years old. Her dad refuse to get married again because no woman wants to leave in a thatch house. Most houses there were built with mud or bricks (for the rich like the retired civil servants). There was a lady who finally agreed to marry him. One day he was coming back home from his haunting because he is a hunter and he saw the lady pouring boiled water on his daughter's legs because she didn't wash the plate well. Mmachi was only three years old then. He angrily sent her away and vowed not to marry again until Mmachi is old enough to take decision and fight for herself. Mmachi always had this fear of leaving her father all alone in the village because he is her happiness, and the fear of loosing him makes her to think of giving up on her dream. She always dreamt of going to the city with her dad and they will both leave in a mansion together. Each night they make fire outside their house, sit together, play together and she sings for him and they danced together.
When Mmachi clocks nine years old, her fear and her dream came together but it's left for her to make a decision. Her uncle, Uncle Uche came visiting with his fiancee Miss Nneoma from the city. Uncle Uche is Her dad's nephew. Uncle Uche likes Mmachi and asked her dad if he could take her to the city but Mmachi wanted them to take her along with her dad but they only wants her.
She talks with Mr Jack and he encouraged her to go, that when she makes it in the city and fulfills her dream, she will come and take her dad, and that was the same thing her dad told her.
The next day, they took Mmachi along with them to the city. Mmachi was excited when she sees the beautiful things on her way to the city, she has never left the village before.
When she got to the city she was overwhelmed by all the beautiful things and the cars, houses around.
She got to Uncle Uche's house and she was treated well. Uncle Uche loves Mmachi so much that he treated her like his own sister he never had and also like a daughter. She sings and makes them laugh but each night she misses her father.
Uncle Uche got married to his fiancee and they had three kids. Mmachi was sent to school. It took her time before she could cope with school because she don't even know how to read nor write. She made a friend in school. Her name is Chisom. She visited her dad twice to make sure he is in a good health.
Mmachi was fifteen years old when her uncle went bankrupt then they couldn't cope, things were hard, and he exchange Mmachi for the debt he was owing a wealthy man named Chief Uzo who lives in another city. The man came visiting at Uncle Uche's house to demand for his money when saw Mmachi and likes her, he told him to exchange her for the debt he was owing him, at first he refused but his wife persuade him and he gave in. The rich man gave Uncle Uche some money as a balance for the exchange.
Mmachi works as a slave in the rich man's house. She said to herself that Mr Jack never told her that people in the city are selfish and self centered, how can her uncle exchange her to a stranger without her consent. What about her father? What will they tell her father. She couldn't escape cause the house is well guarded. She walked as a slave for three years. Mmachi is now eighteen (18) years old but she still believes in her dream, she never gave up. She still has the thought of her father, this was always her fear, how will she know if her father is okay. Many servants there loves her so much and she still sings for them, any little break she has, she will go to the garden in the backyard and bring out a little jotter to write some songs, the jotter is always with her.
When she was twenty (20) years old she was sing at the backyard and a lady approached her and calls her by her name, she couldn't recognize her at first but the lady introduced herself as Chisom, her friend back then in school. She was taken aback cause Chisom has truly changed. She asked Chisom what she is doing at Chief Uzo's house . Chisom explained to her that Chife Uzo is her uncle. She is here to see him. Chisom told her that when she noticed she (Mmachi) is no longer coming to school, she went to her house to ask of her whereabout but her uncle said she has gone back to the village. Mmachi cried and told her all that happened. Chisom assured her that she will speak to her father to speak with her uncle to release Mmachi to them. Three month passed Mmachi never heard from Chisom, she began giving up on her dreams but she still remember what Mr Jack will always tell her "Never give up on yourself, no one will believe in you the way you believe in yourself, even if the road is tough, be tougher. When you go through things in life they are storys you will tell the world and they are additional lyrics to your music. Face your fears and you will realize that they are not stronger than you, you only believe they are stronger because you chose to give them a chance. "
Her dad will always say "Each stars signifies different people, as the stars differs so as people, stand strong and shine brighter. Never let challenges bring you down, it's just what will make you stronger and tougher to overcome. Never forget to show Love and always create Joy from within, happiness is for a moment, it is the physical things you see, but Joy comes from the inside, it's always there even when the happiness is taken away, don't allow your Joy to be taken away. Your Joy will keep your dreams going. "
On the seventh month, Chief Uzo called her and asked her to pack her things and follow a man standing close to her, Mmachi thought Chief Uzo had sold her to another person. She went with the man without saying a word, she got to a very beautiful mansion, she wasn't really as exciting as before when she first came to the city but her mood changed when Chisom comes out to welcome her to her house and showed her her room.
Chisom told her everything and apologized for not letting her know that she had to travel overseas for her aunt's burial. And they were also making arrangements for her and Mmachi to travel oversea to school there and also enroll her (Mmachi) into a music school. Mmachi was so excited. Chisom added that Mmachi's dad is aware of everything that her uncle , Uncle Uche did to her, he is behind bars for what he did. She will travel to see her dad before going to oversea and her dad will come to the city to stay with Chisom's parent in order to be well taken care of. She was crying the tears of joy, she couldn't believe her ears.It felt like a dream.
Mmachi visited her dad, but Mr Jack is late. he died six months ago. Her dad came to the city with her, all those making fun of her were very jealous and wish they can go to the city and be well dressed and be as beautiful as Mmachi.
Mmachi left her dad again and travelled overseas. she never forgot what her dad told her after all she had gone through. He said "Must time God allow things to happen so that you will have experience, to be strong, to face your fears and to make you understand that all this only bring happiness but Joy comes from within. God is the true Joy giver. He took your mother but you still had the Joy, you went to the city you still had the Joy cause I wasn't there with you, you became slave but you still had the Joy that made all the servants there to love you. All these was a bend but not an end, if you had not left me and went to the city, you won't have met Chisom, if you weren't sold as slave, you would have probably still be in Uncle Uche's house maybe as a slave cause he won't have enough to put you in school anymore. Before, you were sold as a slave and now you are going to overseas to fulfill your dream, going to music school that I couldn't afford for you. All this were process God was preparing you; for your dreams. Joy makes you to be patient. Keep spreading that Joy my daughter and shine bright like the star you are. You are Mmachi (The Goodness of God)."
Mmachi fulfilled her dreams, she was seen on the TV and those peers who were insulting her became jealous and wish they could be as beautiful as Mmachi and be seen on the television. Mmachi found a sister in Chisom the sister she never had, she found a mother's love in Chisom's mom, the mother's love she never experienced, she experienced two Fathers' love. Her joy was complete.
She forgave Uncle Uche and he was bailed before she left for overseas. She said "like my dad had said if Uncle Uche didn't exchange me, I won't have been here. And he has a family to take care of."

My lesson. Never give up, people will make fun of you, people will use you, you might even make mistakes in the process but still trust God cause He seeth all things. He said "I alone know the plan I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for".
Jeremiah 29:11

God fulfill His purpose for you in your Joy, keep that Joy growing and spread it.
Weeping endures for a night but Joy cometh in the morning.
Psalm 30:5
