A flock of geese flying high up against the blue sky, squawking away in familiar harmony, roused me into that state of consciousness that lingers just before awakening from a restless slumber. The harsh slap of salty, surf laden water struck me with a ferocity that had me gasping into complete consciousness. My shoulders and arms felt sore, almost as if they didn’t belong to me anymore. How could they when I had spent more than forty-eight hours clinging on a piece of driftwood in the middle of the bloody ocean!

Yes, building my own precarious raft without any engineering knowledge wasn't the best idea, I'll give you that. But, how else was I supposed to train for the Crossfit water challenge? I needed to see if I could swim back from the ocean to the shore but the current was surprisingly powerful. Now, I'm floating adrift by myself, I can barely see the land anymore and I haven't had anything to eat in several hours. Clearly, this wasn't the best day to try intermittent fasting. Okay, it's about to get dark in here. I should probably try searching for some algae to cover myself and try to stay warm. I'll keep...
