Angel from the Heavens Part 2
People walking through the crowded streets - emerging on roads filled with honking cars.
It was loud and I barely restrained myself from covering my ears. My straight dark hair fell to my shoulders and I crouched farther into my ragged coat as I walked, dodging humans.
They were so inconsistent with their loud thrum and continous voices.
I darted into a stray coffee shop, taking a long breath of air, still holding that gritty pollution.
"How can I help you, miss?"a quiet voice interrupted my frustrated thoughts and I turned on my heel, frowning with distaste.
"Nothing you can help me with," I bit my tongue to keep from saying "human". I narrowed my voice at the startled girl.
"Coffee.Black. Cream," I waved my hand lazily, sliding onto the stool, my sharp eyes pinned on her.
She hurried away, her notebook dangling in her limp hands. I rolled my eyes. Humans were so easily scared by the littlest things.
"Say, where were your manners taught?" I turned to face a man my age with wavy brown hair and startlingly bright eyes. I crossed my arms, pinning my gaze on him, scrutinizing him.
"Manners?" I tilted my head, frowning. I have never heard of such a word. "Do I look like I need manners?"
He stared at me, raising his eyebrows high.
I turned away from him, curling my hand around the cup of coffee that had arrived just a few seconds ago from the same server. I ran a finger down my plump lips, deep in thought.
I had not killed the elder angel.
Yet my fellow angels had blamed me, the honored one among them.
I curled my lip into a sneer. They would soon realize who I actually was.
"Where do you come from?" The same man asked me, his eyes narrowing. "You look familair,"
I imagined my face with its high cheekbones and narrow eyebrows. My eyes were a mix of all colors, blended into a soft grayish look.
I studied him closely, not seeing much of a familiatry in him. "You wouldn't know me," I said confidently, avoiding his other question.
Grabbing the coffee and ignoring the protests from the server girl and the astounded look from the man, I exited the coffee shop, blending in with all the other humans.
I allowed myself to smile, looking up to the sky. I was a mortal and an angel.
But I was also the devil.
