At two years old Tommy was taken away from his drug addict parents, he was covered in bruises and had a broken arm due to being thrown against the wall by his father who was coming down from his latest drug inflicted nightmare. Tommy was barely above his birth weight, just a bundle of skin and bones.
Tommy's first stop was a long spell in hospital recovering from his injuries and being drip fed nutrients as his organs had started to shut down.
After ten days Tommy started to gain weight and show signs of improvement but he wasn't out of the woods yet.
It was found while he was being examined that he had a blood clot on the brain probably a result of his last beating, he was deemed to be just about strong enough to undergo the delicate surgery required, with a forty sixty chance of survival the surgeon decided he needed to act fast.
The operation was a success and not only did Tommy survive but he showed no lasting effects from the trauma he had suffered in his short life.
Tommy was quickly adopted by a young couple that couldn't have children of their own. He sailed through school and university, he gained a masters in medicine and now is a specialist in pediatric care.
Tommy's birth parents died in prison both under suspicious circumstances.
