whose fault?
It was a dreary classroom. The day was sultry and sweat trickled down his thick, bushy eyebrows.
The chemistry teacher droned all about elements and compounds. It was like a sedative.
The flames are different for different substances and that piqued his curiosity. It was better than drooping down on the table and being caught sleeping. How cool could it be if he could verify each material by burning it? This could be awesome and he plotted deviously while pretending to pay attention.
As soon as he reached home,he ran upstairs to his room.He had a shower and then thought carefully,"Lets learn in a more exciting manner !"
He took the matchbox lying harmlessly in the prayer room, took it to the storage room and tried experimenting first with plastic bottles kept for being recycled.
Then he checked the effect on thermocol. It was exhilarating. The fire kept getting bigger. He didn't notice a small stove kept near the side of the entrance to the store room.He didn't think of the cardboards strewed around it.As the fire spread, the smoke choked him and brought him to his senses. He ran and got water from the bathroom to douse the fire.It didn't subside. It got bigger. Now he was afraid. His little sister saw him and got puzzled seeing his panicking face. He closed the door so that she wouldn't see it and he told her to get ready to go for her dance class.Their mother called them down for tea and to get ready to go for her class. After her class, she returned and forgot about her suspicious brother.
The fire slowly gained strength. In three hours the room burnt down into embers.
On seeing the fire from outside people poured in and saved the family.
How did the fire start? The parents were shocked. What happened??
Who's responsible?
The boy sat quietly and then was trying to help the people by filling buckets of water and passing it to the adults dealing with the fire.
After everyone left his parents asked him if he had done anything there. He vehemently declined. Instead he said he had removed all the clothes from the room hung for drying. It was also a laundry room.
His parents got suspicious. He has never lifted a finger to help without being ordered to.Did he really become responsible??
His sister kept quiet. There was no short circuit. After studying the smoke patterns and the intense burning near the entrance, they realised someone had burned something near the small stove or even on it.It was chilling.
Did someone want to hurt them?
Do they have to report to the cops?
It was a sickening feeling. The smoke and negative thoughts were suffocating them.
His parents slowly calmed down and thought logically.Who had gone there?
When and why did their son remove the dried clothes? He never helps, not without a reason.
Their son came to them and asked could it be the ants had eaten through the wiring or the sunlight burnt through the plastic and glass bottles kept for drying there. He sincerely explained that he wanted to impress mom by taking the clothes from the laundry room. Those clothes were his uniforms.
He was praising himself proudly. He saved his clothes. But what about the washing machine, the hundreds of other valuable things stored there?, his mother thought quietly.

The next day, her daughter confessed to her about seeing him with fire and smoke.
She didn't want to believe it.Hes a big boy. He's fifteen years old.Is he so stupid??
She thought courage to face the situation if they had an enemy from the outside would help her deal with the situation..But now, she felt death was better. She hoped his lies were true and yet she knew it was not. The little girl asked her mom to not to tell her brother that she's told on him.
Her mother agreed. She called him and told that the neighbours saw him doing something there when he came back from school .
He was shocked and confessed his crime. He even exclaimed that he was planning to tell after two days.

She could no longer recognise this son of hers. She wanted to just die.The father kept quiet. He was broken.
Why is the boy like this? Why was there no guilt on his face? Why is he not feeling remorse? Whose fault is it ?
