Remembering Part 4 Childhood Years
Growing up I was always in trouble at school because I was one of the class clowns, always pushing boundaries and ending up in front of the headmaster, I never got the cane which was odd as my two partners in crime did, I asked Mr Barker why on one occasion and his reply hit the spot, he said you only have one parent since your dad left you so that's punishment enough, added as you aren't normal I won't treat you like a normal child, nice. Outside school we used to build bikes from bits we found on dumps, we would ride everywhere, sometimes hundreds of miles in a week.
In the summer holidays we would go fruit picking for the first two or three weeks as well as doing paper rounds, this would fund the rest of the holidays, riding to coastal towns and family holidays, fun times. Not so good times were when I received two police cautions, the first was when two lads from school got caught stealing for a shop, I was talking to do a lady I knew but left with my friends, the police stopped and took us to school, the boys said I wasn't part of it but the police didn't believe them. The second I was in a stolen tent with several other boys, again the police came, again they were told that I didn't have a part in the theft but the fact I was in the tent I received a caution, my life seemed to go from bad to worse, I've written before about being raped and other unsavoury things, so I'll end it here for now.
