I went to south Korea, France, England, Russia, Pakistan.......
They said I am black
They said I don't belong to them
They said I am backward
They said I am an ugly thing
They said they are my masters
They said I had no emotion
They deprived me of my language
They said I know nothing of the world
One day, I was performing my usual house chores
So depressed, I began to sing a dirge in my language
My voice alerted them
They were unwillingly involved in my sorrow
They unwillingly acknowledged my beautiful voice
They agreed that we had something in common
Infact, they realised so many things
I was a full flesh human being like them. I had legs, hands, a mouth, a voice, emotional, I can learn and know.

I went to Guinea, Cameroon, Gabon, Tchad, Nigeria........
They said I am white
They said I am strange
They said I am ugly
They said I believe to know everything
They said I could only be their slave and nothing else
They never invited me to their table
One day in the course of working, I dashed my foot on a stone and wounded myself as I stumbled
My scream alerted them
They were astonished
My blood was red like theirs
I could feel pains as well
I needed someone to rescue/help me
Blood kept oozing and recommended remedies


We are all human beings, only skin colours differ. There is that love for one another but we allow mere differences to blindfold us. Why did her dirge alert them?, Why did her scream alert them?. Love, help and respect is all we need.
