Against All Odds: Teacher
“You can still do everything, of course, you're ill, but here you are slaying everything.”
~ Zoë Kaià

My name is Loisa and I have a polio since I was a child I haven't walked since then, and my mom helped me with everything that I couldn't do anymore.

“Mom, can I be a teacher someday? What do you think?” I asked my mom out of nowhere.

“Of course, honey, nothing is impossible,” My mom answered me boosting my confidence.

“Really, Mom? Even if I can't walk?” I asked her frankly.

“Of course, I trust you,” My mom answered me and then messed up my hair.

“But, Mom, what if?___” I didn't anymore finish what I was saying because she hugged me.

“Sssh, honey, you can do it,” My mom said to me which made me cry on her shoulder.

The next months were hard for me, fixing my papers, especially since I couldn't walk but with the help of my mom, I could do everything.

“Uhm, miss, can I send a request?” I asked the registrar in front of me.

She looked at my wheelchair and me, disappointment was all over her face and I felt like I was going to cry any minute from now.

I strolled out of my wheelchair from that place and went back home, crying.

“Mom….” I hugged my mom, seeking comfort.

“Hush now, everything is going to be just fine,” My mom comforted me with her words.

“Mom, can I ask something?” I said to her as I was wiping my tears.

“Yes, of course, what is it?” My mom answered me while breaking our hug.

“How did you do that? Me and this illness?” I asked her while my hands were trembling.

“Of course, you're my daughter, I love you and I'm willing to do anything for you,” My mom said on the verge of tears.

I just hugged my mom so tight, I love her so much, and one day one unexpected thing happened.
