Chapter Two
John spent the night in a state of constant fear. Every creak and groan of the old house made him jump, and he couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching him from the shadows.

As morning light began to seep into the room, he knew that he couldn't stay there any longer. He had to get out, to find some way to escape the malevolent forces that were closing in on him.

He made his way cautiously down the hallway, keeping a wary eye on the door that had tried to lure him in the day before. It was quiet now, but he knew that it was only a matter of time before it started calling out to him again.

He reached the front door and tried to open it, but it was locked. He jiggled the handle, but it wouldn't budge. Panic set in as he realized that he was trapped, with no way out.

As he stood there, trying to think of a way to escape, he heard a faint whispering coming from behind him. He turned around and saw that the door that had tried to lure him in was now slightly ajar.

Fear gripped him as he realized that the door was no longer content to wait for him to come to it. It was coming for him.

He tried to run, but his feet felt like they were glued to the ground. The door creaked open wider, revealing a dark, gaping maw that seemed to lead into another world.

John felt a cold hand close around his ankle, and he looked down to see a shadowy figure emerging from the door. It was like nothing he had ever seen before, a creature made of darkness and shadows that seemed to be sucking the life out of him.

He tried to scream, but his throat was too tight. The shadow creature pulled him closer and closer, until he was staring into its gaping maw.

Just as he thought it was all over, a burst of light flooded the room, and the shadow creature dissipated into nothingness. John collapsed to the ground, panting and gasping for breath.

He looked up to see an old woman standing in the doorway, a glowing amulet clutched in her hand.

"Come with me if you want to live," she said, her voice low and urgent. "There's not much time."
