Prompted 2
‘Your story got a like on writeco!’Had I pressed submit, submit the draft of writing with only the single sentence of my family dying in my aflame house, flames that could not even touch me?Who in their mind would like such an ugly piece of writing.I see the username. It does not process in my head.Three hundred fold more followers than me.Why on earth would she/he even stumble past my post.I settle on my mind-voice referring to the ambiguous person as ‘they’.Curiosity bites.I pressed on my post.

It was about ‘me’ shaking as I burnt my house down, words like ‘terror’ jumping at me and snuggling deep in my heart. All was so resonating, all was so real, all sounded as though I wrote it with my own hands,bu-but I didn’t.’Ancient A Mysteries’.The username of whom liked my post.Another person thrown into this convulating mess…

I open a new writco note and type,’To the person who liked my first story, you shall be free from harm.’The last thing I wanted was the person being pulled into this.My screen flickers to my last post,’I leave the house,’and a red line cuts under those words. They disappear. In helping the person,I lost some of my benefit.I’m alone in a haze of smoke and pouring colours of red and yellow, fires.I’m alone with the charred corpses, unable to leave, unable to burn.

I take my tablet and contemplate deleting my post about the person being well.My contemplating is done.I delete it,and the television somehow ons in midst of licking flames.’A catastrophe of burning houses have spread across the world, save yourself,’and the television too goes out in smoke. My body dissolves, shakes, mold, and I’m out of the house as I was before. The fires reached across the world,to the person.I had caused such harm,so what benefits had I reaped?

A current surges in my palms.I hold them up to my face curiously.
