The Sun Setting
#WritcoStoryChallenge

The sun was setting in the horizon. I watched it and wondered should I walk towards it or wait back.
The sands beneath my feet held onto the warmth as the afternoon breeze started blowing in.
I took a step forward, into the sunset letting the breeze kiss against my face, as I heard a soft distant voice, sailing across the afternoon hour. It so elegantly caught hold of my attention, while I was walking towards the sunset.
The voice was smooth, and younger than mine, yet matured, by the burdens that one had chosen by oneself to carry. I had recognised it, for I too had that similar voice, yet as I looked towards where it was coming from, I had realised, that she was far more beautiful, than what I had pictured in my mind, and wondered, if that was what she would have recognised about mine, if she would have heard mine as well.
The sun had set three quarters into the horizon. as I slowly took steps towards the sunset, the breeze brushed more softly again, against my cheeks.
She was nearly beside me, yet it seemed she was miles away, and I wondered about where she was heading, but it seemed that as her voice became louder softly, she was heading my way.
The sun had set in the horizon, its rays painting the ocean blue sky, I looked into the setting, then turned around.
She had seen me, smiled, then kept on walking by. Singing so elegantly, soft yet strong, walking along with time.
I continued on walking, step by step, can't help but wondering, if we would ever, stop by each other, later in time. And if we could, would we. Yet as the sun had set, and the evening breeze brushed against my face, I knew for certain, that I hoped we would.
