Dark Witch and the Nerd Pt 2
Ethan P.O.V

"Ethan," Kathrina said surprised.

At her angelic voice I smiled, equally happy to see her.

"Kathrina....hi....what are you doing here?," I asked as I subconsciously ran my fingers through my hair, shifting from foot to foot.

"I'm here to see...," She started as she turned to look at Mr Redstone "My Father,".

"Oh," I looked back and forth between them with my brow raised in surprise at the news.

So she's the daughter.

Mr. Redstone unfolded his arms from his chest as he pointed between us.

"So you two have meet," he questioned not sounding surprised.

"Yes...we meet earlier... before...yes," we both rushed out, our words jumbled as we eyed each other before nervously fixating on her father.

"Well I'm elated that you both are acquainted," Mr Redstone declared clasping his hands together.

"So daughter," he began "this young man here will be your guide for the next week or two. It you're unsure about anything, you can ask him," he stated as he nodded at me.

Awkwardly I glanced at her only to notice her already watching me before she quickly looked away.

"If you look on your schedules, you'll see the classes that you both have, together," Pausing he looked at Kathrina, "I tried my best to get you into has much as the same classes as Ethan, unfortunately I only managed on five...,"

"Okay" her face fell in disappointment as she forced a soft okay.

She gave me a weak smile which I returned with a reassuring smile of my own.

Mr. Redstone quickly excused himself after hearing his name being paged repeatedly on the schools speaker, leaving Katrina and I in an awkward silence.

Somehow I felt she was nervous. But then again, why would she be nervous.... around me?.

I tried to think of something as an ice breaker to start up conversation but I only found myself sweating from overthinking.
This simple human task was a lot harder than linguistics.

With my heart beating in my ear, I couldn't focus well, that before I knew it words were coming out of my mouth.

"Katrina are you doing anything tomorrow," I blurted out quickly. Too quickly as she stared at me confused.

"What,"

"Um," I ran my hands through my hair as I opened my mouth but closed it.

Gathering the courage I slowed the adrenaline and calmed my tongue.

"I asked if you were doing anything tomorrow, you know, well you wouldn't... that tommorow is the phenomenal Vladimir day, so school will be closed by 11," I explained with my hand swaying back and forth,

"So I thought maybe we could hang out, seeing that your kind of new here, I could show you around," I ended in one breath only slower than before. As my words sunk in her mouth formed an O.

She looked down as if in deep thoughts, causing me to swallow the forming lump in my throat forcing my hands in the depths of my jeans pocket.

What if she says no? I really hope she doesn't. My mind rattled.

The longer she took to respond the more the river of hope started to drain from my body that when she looked up, staring at me as if I had grown four heads, I almost passed out but stayed grounded from the cool breeze that escaped through the window.

I should have kept my mouth shut.

"It's totally fine if you don't want to go-," I rushed out holding my hands up before she grabbed them.

"No,no,no,no," she said her grip on my hands firm. "I want to go," she replied smiling sweetly, "I accept,".

"Really," I almost shouted but paused looking at her confused "...I thought you weren't interested when you took so long to respond," I stated honestly.

"Oh, I'm sorry," she laughed "No I was just surprised, you know, that you asked me out. I wasn't expecting it. That's all," she explained as she slowly released my hands.

"Oh, well that makes perfect sense," I whispered feeling relieved.

"So where are we going... exactly?," She asked gazing at me through her lashes as she played with her fingers.

Where are we going? I had no idea.

I scratched my head as the realization dawned on me that I did not think this through.

She continued to stare at me as I fumbled with my thoughts.

"Where are we going," I repeated, "Well not one place in particular," I laughed, " I thought we could go to the mall, take stroll through the park then maybe we could go to Aunt Jella's diner, they have the best burgers.... well best fast food in town," I rumbled without noticing,

"And if you like we could see a movie," I finished with a smile hoping she wouldn't realize that I didn't have a well thought out plan.

Her smile widened as she nodded, her afro bouncing.

"I would love that... I haven't seen a movie in years, so that would be nice, but I would need to go home..for something first," she mentioned.

"That's okay, so it's settled then. I pick you up at around twelve," I asked.

"Yes but wait you don't know where I live," she laughed "how about I make my dad drop me off at the park. There we can meet up," she stated.

"Sure that's even better, so at 12,"

"Yes at 12,"
