She held on to the fragile branch with a death's grip as the roaring water threatened to drag her away.
She gasped, the bubbling swirls entering her mouth. There was no hope left...She sunk and raise their for minutes....in that deeper part of the river.No one came that way to escape as it was in the noon time!but three of them were bathing...all are neighbours!
It was river near a temple...where people used to bath, swim...wash...everyone were so surprised to see the scene...while thinking a moment what to do...How to escape her...what is happening? Thoughts defeated them.But they say nothing between words can't arise for decision....because decision was too important...any minor mistake should have to be paid for...accelerate the precision for losing a life...many such incident passed on infront of their mind...but can't be concluded or sum up to take one.
A week before when two people crossing the river had drowned.That incident haunted them.As it was raining throughout,the water in the river was coming rush...!.
As usual death were happened...both in river and pools...the natives near the river practised swimming as usual from their childhood days.They knew each and every part of the river.its depths...the intensity of water coming their way in the rainy season...the humes in the dry season...they were so desperate at that times because of bunds...as the water is not flowing...but stagnant somewhere a little...sometimes fishes...turtles..frogs...crabs and planktons on its way...it is fearful....dreadful while sometimes...wooden planks...branches of the trees and even snakes came out on their way...so sometimes rushing water through the river is so dangerous...sometimes it become fatal...
Life gaurds were there in the rivers and coastal areas..sometimes...they got special training to deal accidents...but their presence is not compulsory everywhere....sometimes in the thickly crowded riverbank of well known rivers....Life buoyant equipments were there...which helps to keep afloat in water...but in most rivers in the villages ...it is not used..!
Meera's house was near the river...As time passed her mother came there to search her daughter.She saw her in the last minutes of drowning...All on a sudden she reach near the women bathing seen panicked and thought for what to do...she pushed one into water to save her....When she plunged into water...so angerly reached back swimming to the bathing ghat beside...! and looked her piercingly....without thinking anything and not wasting time,she pulled the next to the water and asked her to escape her daughter"Go,Go and save her"she in awefulness swim a little and reversed back within minutes and looked her with disrespect...finally she reached another and pulled her into water.
Not considering others life,unaware of the hazard ,her mother tried to pushed the life of other three...into the face of death,for saving her daughter?How can we blame her in the situation of losing her daughter...How can we justify it?about the reason by which to push all others to death for saving a life?Is their life invaluable? to them.or for saving a valuable life bring it on them to an emergency?Whether she heartless?Why she didn't screamed for the natives to help them even once......!? Sometimes it was late...as she is in the critical condition...so there is a need to endure it and become so compassionate...!
She with awefulness suddenly frightened but with very good swimming experience...without thinking anymore and reached near her..!
As drowning causes uncontrolled breath leading to unconsciousness and death finally...sometimes they will sometimes drag too or sometimes try to drown us in that difficult situation...so those who were trained to go near them is better...sometimes with a rope...or with an oar !
When she reaches near her she gripped her which may cause her drowned ....in some minutes ....and seconds of uncertainty...At last she got hold on her hairs....she pulled her with it and swim with it by which she was moving back to reach the shore....Every one came there to see this...But her mother and relatives frightened when they heard about the incident that something dangerous will happen!
In the same day in the next bathing ghat...a man and his two grand sons below the age of twelve were drowned..People gather there and try to escape...but all in vain!
When she shared the whole story about rescuing to me just as Meera also told the whole story of her escape to her daughter neena.As we were neighbours of the same age and were studying in class second .
Saving a life is a virtuous deed!Eventhough you were not rewarded.But only with safety measures .Saving a soul makes your life meaningfuI...whether you were renowned or not...praised or not...criticized or not!.It will enlighten your path...!!!!!protect you as a shield infront...unbroken!!! ...just as you do to others!!!
