After the rain comes the sun - Chapter 56
Slamming the door behind him, Fran entered the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror. He released a stream of water and poured it over his face, with the aim of somehow regaining his composure.
"Don't think about her! Concentrate on biology!" He repeated to himself, trying to get his heart and brain to cooperate with him. He looked in the mirror and sighed deeply, "Okay. I can do this."

With that, Fran turned and headed back to his room. Anja was typing something thoughtfully on her mobile phone, when she noticed Fran approaching her.
"Are you OK?" Anja asked him with a worried look. Fran nodded uncertainly and said, "I'm fine. Let's continue studying."
Anja nodded and put her mobile phone aside, and Fran sat down next to her. His brain started to work a little better and he started to absorb and remember some things from what Anja was explaining to him. Still, from time to time, her long black hair and her gaze, which was full of tenderness and kindness, would catch his eye, and then Fran would fly into the clouds again. He would notice every detail on her. How her eyebrows furrowed slightly when she concentrated, or how her lips moved as she read through her notes. Every movement of her body seemed like a work of art to him and he couldn't help but be enchanted by her presence. Because of this, he decided to avoid looking at her face and tried to focus on what she was explaining to him. Somehow he managed to do it and their efforts eventually had some effect, because on Thursday he easily solved most of the problems on the biology test. The test was easier than expected, and fortunately, despite all the difficulties, Fran was able to master the basics and that was enough for him to pass the test successfully.

Smiling from ear to ear, Fran left the class. Mateo was waiting for him outside the door and as soon as he saw the smile on his friend's face, he smiled himself. Fran didn't need to say a word, Mateo could tell by his body language and facial expression that everything went well. He patted him on the back and said, "Congratulations my friend! I knew you could do it!"
Fran chuckled. "Thanks, man." Then he turned around. He saw the students walk past them, walking towards their classrooms. He turned serious and asked Mateo, "What subject do we have next?"
"Actually, we have nothing. We have a free class, the teacher is not at school today."
"Seriously?" Fran asked in disbelief and Mateo nodded with a smile. Realizing what that meant, Fran grinned from ear to ear. "That's great! We could pop over to the newsstand and grab something to eat then. What do you say?"
"Sounds good.” Mateo agreed with him.

The newsstand was located in the schoolyard on the left. Beside it were benches to sit on, and behind it was a tall row of trees that provided shade and a refreshing breeze. The sky was clear and the birds were chirping, which created a nice spring atmosphere, even though it wasn't spring yet. Mateo commented on this, "The weather today is just like spring." "Yes, it is." Fran said, when at that moment he suddenly went silent and turned pale. His gaze wandered into the distance, where Vlado and Anja were standing on the inside of the entrance to the school. They were talking, but they were too far away for Fran to hear. Mateo was saying something to Fran, but Fran's thoughts were absent, focused on what he saw.
