October 31st

"Mom I'm leaving", I yell with my hands cupped around my mouth.

"Bye sweetie, have fun. Get back by twelve!" I hear her scream at me with a sweet tone.

I leave the house and head to Anna's. It's only a few blocks from mine, so I get there in less than six minutes. I arrive at the small, white house and ring the door bell. I'm left standing there for a few moments before I see the door swing open. Standing in front of me is a blonde boy I've never seen before. He's wearing a black, torn robe and looks about my age.

The boy then turns to look behind him and asks, "Is this him?"

"Yeah! Hi Kye, come on in", I hear Anna's voice reply.

"Oh I'm Ben by the way", Ben says as I walk past him and enter the house. He closes the door behind me and awkwardly sticks his hand out; it looks stiff. I imagine I'm supposed to shake it, I don't think I've ever shaken the hand of someone below the age of thirty. I take my hand out from my back pocket, I tightly grip his hand and shake it. His hand feels warm and kind of sweaty, but I don't mind it.

"Nice to meet you!" I try to sound smooth, not wanting to come off too strong or sound like the total loser that I am.

He looks up at me with his gleaming green eyes and smile, "Same here."

I let go of his hand and walk over to Anna who's sitting on her tiny couch. She's sitting next to an incredibly tall girl with black hair; her face is painted pale white, and she's wearing a long black dress. I'm guessing she some sort of vampire, but I don't ask. "Hey Kye! This is Layla." She points at the girl next to her.

Layla smiles, she looks very excited, "Hi."

I wave at her, "Hi." We stare at each other for a few seconds before she turns away. Well that was awkward. I jump onto the couch next to Anna. "So what movie are we watching?"

"You'll see", she says with a menacing grin on her face. I don't ask again, you should never ask again when she has that look on her face.

"I'm back", declares an unknown voice. I turn my head to see a short girl with brown hair, blue eyes and incredibly long eyelashes. I'm guessing she's Olivia. "Wait a second! Are you Kye?"

"Yeah, and I'm guessing you're Olivia."

"Yeppity yep." I finally hear the slight English accent in her voice. What a weird thing to say.

I then feel someone jump onto the couch, righ next to me. I get startled and turn to see who that was. Just Ben. "Let's play this stupid movie!" I hear ben yell.

I watch as Olivia turns the lights off and sits in front of the small couch. The TV turns on and in just a few seconds, we're watching the movie.

The movie is over and we're all sitting around the kitchen table. Anna gets up and comes back with two boxes of pizza. We all grab a slice and start to talk about ourselves, just to getto know each other. Layla starts off; she tells us about how she was born in Korea but moved to Connecticut at the age of four. She has two older brothers and one younger sister.

Then it's Olivia's turn. She was born here but her parents are English so, she's always had an accent. She's a single child, she wants to be a psychologist of when she grows up and she has a tabby cat named Boo.

Ben talks about how he has a super big family of thirteen: three brothers and seven sisters. He loves reading books, especially dystopian future ones. His favorite food is sushi. He isn't really popular at school but he has a couple of good friends. He loves going on drives in his mom's car. He wants to move to L.A some day. He plays tennis, he loves to sing even though he sucks, he enjoys watching sad movies and he's bi.
