In today's time we need to understand that we worship the God but forget that why we are worshiping. we worship to embrace the Supreme qualities of the God that is their (Gunas) and wish for us to bless us for our betterment because we see God as very enlightened form of energy or creation that creates everything and by embracing their guas we try to learn them and implicate on our life to make it better. But today the God that we worship is only limited to the stone statues and some mantras that we dont know the meanings of that what they are actully saying.
So embrace the qualities of Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva. Understand them and see the magic of improvement in yourself.
