from an upcoming book called "Milton" is a poem describing my own personal feeling about the trial and conviction of Milton Dortch (my stepson). What makes this story extremely difficult to write is the fact that it is a true story. The names and events are accurately documented and unbiasedly illustrated to truthly represent the state of Nebraska in it's most notably racial motivated murder trial. In an effort to obtain the death penalty, the state court officials left in their path a long trail of mishandled, underhanded, unlawful and shocking tactics. Extensive research has uncovered an unconscionable DeRay of foul play conducted by key officials including the prosecuters office and even the judge. The city of Omaha has some interesting question to answer as we dig deeper into the mindset of the lynchmob mentality that consumed an entire city leading to one of the most dispicable displays of judiciary abuses in America's already tarnished history.
