City Traveller
The night city smiles at me
Neon lights illuminating strange faces
Pretty girls with idol costumes
running to sneak into twilight clubs
Handsome men smirking and luring
around street corners and into the lane
The wind carrying the smell of street cuisine
The lights blinding the passersby.
I keep up with the crowd.
I feel small, strangely small even with my five foot two.
I am in an unknown country, away from homeland
Walking with God knows whom
to buy groceries and explore a little.
I'm a complete stranger
I can't decipher the sign boards
nor the expression on people's faces
And yet I move
Like pebble in a running spring
uncertain of direction.
Being a lone traveller is tricky
But aren't we all one?.
We cross and dodge and confront
the various destination before us
Sometimes blending in,
Sometimes stading out,
We move under the city lights
Unsure.Afraid.Thrilled
Like me.Like you.
