Blame Game (a poetic story)
If a toddler falls into a stream,
and gets caught in the current.
Who is the one with control
Following this moment?
Is it the stream?
Who’s high water level and fast flow,
Has led to this chaotic show?
Because if it had it been gently,
He’d have been gotten swiftly.
Is it the parents,
Who are larger, stronger,
And can even hold
their breath for longer?
Had they just jumped in,
Everything could’ve changed
what would happen,
could go from “what is”
to “what would’ve been”.
Or maybe,
the only person
who has control in this situation,
Is the one that fell into this complication.
And that would be the
toddler…
years of life, followed by a parents’ holler.
A happy birthday was the aim.
but now, everyone’s playing the
blame game.
