In the not so happy moments
When the world spins a little slower
And time never seems to go by fast enough
When the air feels a little colder
And I push through fogs of silence

I look around as though detached from reality
And find myself wondering if there was ever happiness here

In familiar faces now so unusually lethargic
In eyes of apathy and monotone voices
In unpleasant, borderline revolting commentary
In people, in broken people and their day-to-day despair

I seek for a light that seems to have gone out
And muse if I was ever chasing after anything but an ilusion
There is something beautiful in this misery
Something pretty in the hopelessness we share
And in our inherently pointless search for a meaning to it all

And in those not so happy moments
I can come to believe happiness never even existed at all
I can succumb to the numbness of a life in gray
Where no one denies their faults, where no one is beyond such sorrow

Where we're all assuredly, unapologetically lost
Where we're all perpetually reaching for a sun we'll never get a grasp of
