Broken But Still Functioning - 02/02/24
You left,
Pain took your place,
It broke me from every side,
Made me realize,
How painful is being alive,
When every thought is about the end,
When every breath feels like a burden,
Rather than a release,
When I can hear the voices,
That no one else can,
When I can feel,
The weight of the world,
Pressing down on my chest,
And a broken heart still beating inside,
The same rhythm, for the name,
That I no longer hear,
But echoes in every silence,
The hollow emptiness you left behind,
Is a darkness that engulfs every moment,
And in the stillness, your absence screams,
But life continues it seems,
Even though tears are falling with every breath,
Breaking, building myself on repeat,
I'm trapped in a cycle of defeat,
By fate, by time, by luck,
I lost you, I lost the future,
But days need directions,
And nights need company,
Doing my best to function during the day,
And accompanied by the ache at night,
That's how I am living my life,
Broken, but functioning,
Without you by my side,
Oh, my beautiful wife.
