You Don't Belong To Me

In the silence of the night, I hear the whisper,
Of a truth that cuts deep, a truth that makes me shiver,
You don't belong to me, though I wish it weren't so,
You're a free spirit, destined to go where you must go.

I hold onto memories, like fragile threads of gold,
But I know deep down, our story has been told,
You don't belong to me, you're meant to roam,
To explore the world, to find your true home.

I've felt your presence, like a gentle breeze,
But I know I can't hold onto you with ease,
You don't belong to me, you're a wild flame,
Burning bright and fierce, never meant to tame.

I've loved you deeply, with all that I have,
But I understand now, it's time to let go and pave
A path for you to follow, on your own journey,
To find your purpose, to embrace your destiny.

You don't belong to me, and that's okay,
For love is not about possession, it's about the way
We support each other, we lift each other high,
And let each other soar, beneath the open sky.

I'll cherish the moments we shared, the laughter and tears,
And hold them close to my heart, throughout the years,
You don't belong to me, but you'll always have a place,
A space within my soul, a memory to embrace.

I release you with love, with a heart that's true,
Knowing that you'll find your way, in all that you do,
You don't belong to me, but you'll forever be,
A part of my story, a chapter in my history.

So go forth, my dear one, spread your wings and fly,
Embrace the unknown, reach for the sky,
You don't belong to me, but you'll always be,
A part of my heart, forever free.
