"Miss the boat"

I have just learned of the phrase "miss the boat,"

Which means to miss an important opportunity.

It's as if there's a boat that comes by,

And if you missed it, you've lost the opportunity.

But what if you've missed more than one boat?

What if you've missed opportunities time and again?

And what if the consequences of missing those boats

Were far more severe than anyone could have imagined.

Life is full of boat-missing possibilities,

And that is something to think about.

It's a lesson we learn over and over again:

To be vigilant, to be observant...

To be attentive and mindful

Because if we miss the wrong boat

It can lead us down a dark path...

But we've learned our lesson, right?

We won't miss another boat,

We won't miss an opportunity like this ever again.

But in our haste to catch the next boat

We might just miss the boat again...

The cycle continues,

Like Sisyphus rolling the boulder up the hill.

This is a cautionary tale, about being aware and alert,

Not missing out on opportunities, and not making the same mistakes again.

But even when we learn the lesson,

It can be easy to make the mistake all over again.

So it's important to pay attention,

To notice the signs,

To not let our past failures get in the way of our future success.
