To be unwanted and left to rot
like a tree fell in the wind
rotting slowly into the earth
Returning to dust

The same I wish upon myself
To watch it all fade
Watching the leaves fall from the branches of my tree
As the ones I love slip away

From the depths of the earth
The roots pulled away for all to see
So shall mine in the day I finally rest in peace
As my roots grow closer to the surface
You can see the pain and the weakness I’ve hid from the world

For so many years
I’ve held back the tears
But tonight I drive
In hopes that I may return to my home under the ground

Just as the tree Ive spoken of
I shall fade and rot away
All the love this world has to offer me
Seems close to none
Maybe when I’m gone they’ll notice me

Maybe as the tree fades we see it’s beauty and wonder
What it could have been
Maybe they’ll think the same of someone unwanted like me
