When people say if a man loves you he'll never hurt you that's the stupidest 💩 I've ever heard because logically the reason he can hurt you is because you love him , his opinion of you , his words and actions is because of your affinity for him. If an ex calls you fat or sleeps with another woman you wouldn't care be hurt at all , you have no more feelings for them. So to me the people you love are the only people who can emotionally hurt you. Now if they intentionally hurt you without cause or don't care how they make you feel or what their actions do to you. Then it's unworthy of your attention , time and love . In this life you hope to find someone you can be yourself with that knows all of your idiosyncrasies , skeletons , fears , goals , bad behaviors and loves you past it. They want you past it and strives to be their best with you and see you at your best. Accepting someone as they are doesn't mean you accept the bad behavior they do , it means you take them as is , because what ever attraction you have for them makes you want to be with them. But you see who they could be , should be , you see the greatness in them and you want to make them see it in themselves. If they don't see it , don't want to and make no efforts to be that person you see in them. Then their not for you cause someone who loves you will want to give you the best of them.
