Heart And Mind

Within my heart, a war rages on,
A battle between two halves, far from gone,
One side full of joy and light,
The other cast in shadow's night.
Some days the sun doth shine so bright,
And all around is pure delight,
But then the clouds come rolling in,
And take me to that darkened spin.
I feel the pull of both extremes,
A wave of sadness and joy it seems,
Each one like a storm, fierce and bold,
That claims dominion, to have and hold.
And yet, through it all, I remain,
A heart that bears both joy and pain,
For in this duality, I find,
A balance of the heart and mind.
Though it can be a painful plight,
I find the strength to keep in sight,
That from the two, a harmony,
A peaceful state, as it should be.
