Has it fallen upon either of your ears, yet — the swan's song?
I won't lie to you, it’s a majorly puzzling muddle

You would think the swan's song would ever so gently float along
That they would warble light feathery tunes across the puddle
But almost every honk I hear out of them sounds right wrong
Like they were with the skunk last night, getting fully a fuddle

Swans are a handsomely elegant, absurdly stately bird
Well, they are once they grow into themselves — become fully fledged
Please forgive me if this next tidbit is a tad too forward
Perhaps you should simply regard this assertion as alleged
As it's merely something that a friend's friend read and then I heard
A few short years ago when I was a girl guide — fully pledged

Cygnets are rumoured to exit their eggshell looking a mess
To pip into the world with a face only close kin could love
I'm sure when swan tots peer into a reflective pond, they stress
I bet they try to sing, so their folks have that to be proud of
I'm sure it causes them all an excess...
