A Dance Between Dragons
Your name is etched in mine
My name is etched in yours
The day you came into this Earth is in my field of vision every day
And I know for a fact that you saw mine

You offered me a rose
But you ignored my request to dance
I dedicated my skill to craft a gift that would make you feel loved
But you want to be the one who offers to dance

You are a Dragon but you lack its assertiveness
But that is quite alright
You will always be a Dragon
No one will ever be able to take that away from you
It is etched in your nature
I possess the assertiveness you lack in excess For I am here to be your mirror and your complement

You are fire
I am not afraid of fire
I have walked through fire before
And got to the other side unscathed
I am fire too
My fire burns hotter than yours ever will

Fire with Fire
Dragon with Dragon
Isn't it clear to you yet that we were made to dance together?

Of course it is
Kindred souls always recognize one another
Open my invitation
Accept it
And I will concede my turn to you
So you can be the one to ask me
"May I have this dance?"
Just as you desire

You search for the oceans
I am surrounded by them
I search for cold weather, expansive territory, innovation and rich history
You are surrounded by it
Our creator has told us to dance

You create beauty with your voice
I create beauty with my hands
A trait that you also share

I see my spiritual essence reflected in your eyes and smile
You see yours reflected in mine
We are both one in the same
We are a soul that was split in two and placed on the opposite corners of this planet

If you want to lead
You have to confront me
Face me
I know you will
Because you are much braver than I will ever be

I still have the rose you gave me
I will give you my gift
After we dance

As it was written in the heavens for us to do

Let our dance unite two fearsome enemies
Let our dance be a demonstration that peace is possible
Let our dance build bridges between the old and the new
The East and The West
Let our dance tear down the walls of prejudice

I dance with a powerful lord
You may have heard of each other
As you both share an appreciation of aesthetics and make belief
He looks like a knight in shining armor with a sword capable of slaying dragons

I am a dragon
Can a dragon slayer dance forever with a dragon?
What will happen when my nature shows itself and I do what dragons are meant to do?

If you fight him who would emerge the victor?

He saw me in the middle of the dancefloor alone with a rose in one claw and a divine decree on the other.

He showed me a metal plaque
Engraved in it was an old promise we made Ages ago
I must keep my promise
I gave him my word

In your absence
The knight and I fulfilled our promise to each other and danced
He is well practiced and a wonderful and delightful partner
He makes me forget that I am a dragon sometimes
He makes me think that instead I was a human Lady all along
We move in unison like a perfectly synchronized machine

But the divine decree scroll glows everytime I forget that you are on your way here
I look at the clock
This number will end soon
The rose reminds me that when it does end
You will me there to ask me to dance the next one with you

The knight would be sad
But he would eventually understand that
A dragon and a dragon slayer cannot coexist forever
As their nature commands them to destroy each other
Only a dragon can understand another dragon

We happily fly and dance as one

I want to build a legacy with you
I asked the Savior to give you a period of grace
Each dance number equals a trip around the sun
The savior at my request has given you an extension of three more dance numbers
Before my clock ticks for the last time

Thirty seven and Thirty eight are the spare keys you will be given to open the door that leads to the ballroom.

I have a magic ring sealed on an envelope. This ring, should you not show up after the third dance finishes, will turn me forever into a human Lady.

And I will leave with the knight never to be seen again.

But I know that is just an alternate ending

The real story ends with you showing up here at this very second
Asking me to be your dance partner
For only a dragon can mate with a dragon.
