Astral Rejection
I float endlessly through space,
Cradled by the sea,
Crying out with empty words
As the waves rock me to sleep
No concerns about my demons,
Or lack of legacy,
I sink to the depths, accept my fate
Finally I am free
If a tree falls in a forest, did anybody care?
I got my answer years ago,
Those cold eyes,
Reality's stare
Every day I fight a war,
The soldiers are a facade;
Created to fight an imagination
Gifted unto me by god
I see planets in my future,
I see the people and new societies,
True friends that would adore me,
And as I reach out with my hand
They dissipate before me.
I was born to be a legend,
Yet this zeitgeist doth abhorr me
I have no place where conformity
Is not recommended, but obligatory
So the stars I explore, looking for
A land of individuals ruled by critical thinking
Until I open up my eyes and realize
I've crashed and my ship is sinking
My heart, it races
I see your faces
All of you before me
I see the demons,
I see the angels
I hear their promises of glory
As the windows crack,
I loudly laugh,
One last act of defiance,
Towards everything that held me back,
Towards those I felt reliance.
For once I'm in no one's shadow,
For once I am truly free,
Free to look up at the stars in the black of night
And feel a moment's peace.
I close my eyes and smile wide,
True joy fills my heart,
The suffocating of my body and soul,
I know only is the start
I open my eyes,
To my surprise,
I wake up at the tree,
To see it's fallen,
Without a whimper,
Right in front of me
It fears no death,
It feels no pain,
Though there were many around to see.
The reality is, everyone cares until we fall down
And fail to rise again,
You can offer up your thoughts and prayers,
And say you'll be there for friend.
But when that friends frets, and needs you most
You'll let them pay the price,
For I know this better than my worldy host,
My debts, I've paid them twice
so as I float past rings and gasp for air,
I pray you understand
That all I ever wanted was for someone to grab my hand
To stop this war of land and air,
These battles in the sea,
To show me that what matters most
Is conviction and integrity
So when I'm gone, don't lie and say
That to you I will be missed,
Because I can hear you on my voyage,
Your lies disrupt my bliss.
As i
float endlessly through space,
Cradled by the sea,
Crying out with empty words
While waves rock me to sleep
No concerns about my demons,
Or lack of legacy,
I sink to the depths, accept my fate
Finally I am free
