In Another Life
In another life,
I would make you stay.
We'd watch the waves, from our house on the bay,
On a balcony, basking in the sun’s warm sway.

In another life, we’d make the pain go away.
We'd put each other first,
Like no one else exists,
In a world where our love was the only script.

We’d buy groceries together, and laugh along the aisles,
Take care of cats and dogs, instead of children for a while.
We’d watch them grow old, as seasons pass us by,
Our little family, under a shared sky.

But in this life,
I grew tired,
And I had to let go,
Of dreams that have long expired.

So what do we do now, with these memories?
The love that lingers, like echoes in empty seas
With relics and treasures we've stashed through the years,
And bittersweet nothings that still bring tears?

Do we box them up and store them away,
Or let them fade, as all things stray?
In another life, I’d make you stay,
But in this one, we part, as the sky turns gray.
