Hope
He smiled happily at me
He looked at me still smiling as I held his hands
And so it went, where it begun:

He picked up his feet where it fell,
His head where it sank, turning to see the remains
Of the house where it once stood,
the rooms that were once filled,
the chairs that were never empty,
the children whom he once adored,
the woman he once loved,
the pets he played with,
the neighbors he once knew,
the friends he once cared for,
the gatherings and get-togethers he once enjoyed,
the warmth he once felt,
the memories he once kept,
the smiles that once melted his heart,
the life he once had,
the hands that once held,
the pictures that were once alive,
the tears he once shed,
the heart that once felt.

He picked what was left,
the emptiness he now feels,
the anguish and pain that now seeped through him,
the sands and ashes that now lay around.
He didn't question Divinity
He didn't want to know why

In pain-filled laughter,
He got up and walked the road ahead
In hope
And Smiles
Unsure of what phase he had to face again
Divinity didn't leave him

To The Path That Lay Patiently Ahead For Him
