A New Year's Confession
Another day, like all the rest,
To school I went, with no thought of jest.
The 31st of December, calm and clear,
Unaware that change would soon draw near.
The classroom buzzed, a lively hum,
Yet glances my way left me struck dumb.
Whispers danced like a fleeting breeze,
Rumors, I thought, and paid them no heed.
The day wore on, uneventful and plain,
But the night brought magic, a sweeter refrain.
A terrace lit with a soft, glowing hue,
Our class gathered under a starlit view.
I glanced at my watch, 11:58,
Two minutes to a brand-new date.
Fireworks promised to light up the night,
So I gazed at the stars, their shimmering light.

Yet glances my way left me struck dumb.
Whispers danced like a fleeting breeze,
Rumors, I thought, and paid them no heed.
The day wore on, uneventful and plain,
But the night brought magic, a sweeter refrain.
A terrace lit with a soft, glowing hue,
Our class gathered under a starlit view.
I glanced at my watch, 11:58,
Two minutes to a brand-new date.
Fireworks promised to light up the night,
So I gazed at the stars, their shimmering light.
But then...
