What are the things that a loving God would do?

Claiming to love God
But I'm standing on the fence
Walking on a thin line
Struggling to let go of the world

How can I love you and live my best life?
How can I love you and still be cool?
How can I love you and still want worldly pleasures?
The answer is quite clear...I know it is
But I'm not ready to accept it
But I'm ready to accept you
How does that even work?

I'm not a fool
I know at some point I'll have to choose
I can't keep trying to walk in His path
While trying to live my best life
I can't keep serving two masters

I'm barely 18, I have a long way to go
I can live my best life now
Repent and love God later
But do I really have a long way to go
Can I really go a long way without God

I forget to pray in the morning sometimes
I lie for fun and to escape things
I forget I'm fasting most times
I have lustful thoughts too
In a day I commit several sins
And forget to pray for forgiveness at night

I have plans for University
I want to live my best life
I only live once you know
So why call me now
Call me in the next 4 years
I'll be the daughter you need me to be then

When I need your help
When I need your assistance
When I need your guidance
I immediately remember I was raised a Christian
I pray and fast consistently
I make vows...I promise my first child to you like I'm Hannah

And as usual, you help me out
You do more than expected
I try to make good on my numerous vows
I try to continue walking in your path
But walking the narrow path isn't as fun as the wide path
So I go a stray...not looking back
Till I need something else from you

What are the things that a loving God would do?
God is love, He loves me the way I long to be loved
He forgives all my sins, sins I commit over and over again
He listens to my meaningless complaints
He sees me when I stray
But willingly accepts me back
He doesn't give me everything I want
But He gives me everything I need
He listens to my midnight cries
He knows me...He understands me
So what are the things a loving God would do?
To me the list is endless.

I realized that I can love God and live my best life.
All it takes is self discipline
I can walk the narrow path and have fun
I just have to choose the type of fun
I don't need the worldly pleasures
To live my best life

My main prayer, my main request
Is to find the strength to appreciate His love.
To find the strength to love Him the way He loves me
To build a strong relationship with Him
To find the strength to do away with the world.

I probably want to love God for a selfish reason.
Suffering on earth and suffering in the after life is a curse.
I need to make heaven
To see the city flowing with milk and honey
To be free of worry, to find peace
I need to be happy at least once
And I choose to be happy in the after life.
