Surviving
"She's too weird"
"So different"
"Too strange"
"Why is she so absurd?"
Were the questions and labels people said about her
"Why is she carrying that book?"
"Why isn't she like others?"
"Why so weird and why so different?"
Were all that they said about her
"Why don't you talk much?"
"Why don't you gossip like others?"
"Why so weird and why so different are you?"
Was all she was ever asked.
"So clumsy!"
"What is she wearing?"
"Is it a boot or a shoe?"
Was all what the others could ever talk about her
Never a 'How is she?' or a 'Is she doing okay?'
"You should socialise."
"You should have the correct posture"
"You should behave like a woman!"
And on and on went her aunt.
One thing after another her list about what her niece was doing wrong.
"What do they want?"
"Why don't they ever ask?"
"Am I doing something wrong?"
Was what she wondered all the time.
Day after day they kept laughing at her, criticising her, telling her what to do and what not!
Until one day when it was enough!
She was raging inside
All that she ever wanted to say
But which she never could
All of it escaped!
Person after person
She went and told them
"Live your own life and I live mine."
Yet they didn't leave her alone.
They called her crazy!
Said, 'we're only looking out for you dear!'
'Don't hate us for being nice and caring.'
It became too much for her to bear
She wanted to run
Get away from the people who never listened
She only imagined though!
Until one day she decided it was time
Packed her bags
Said goodbye to her room
And...
