To My Mother
Oh my dear mother.
With none I can compare.
I love you so much.
I am glad you are there.
Your lovely, wide smile
And your black, silky hair.
The way you love me.
I know that you care.
Oh my dear mother!
When I was young
You'd dance with me to
the songs that were sung.
You'd hold my little hand
And then You'd laugh.
The stories you told when
I was four and a half.
The times we ate dinner.
With a spoon in our hand.
The times that I fell down
And you made me stand.
You'd help me to learn and
You helped me to swim.
You didn't tell me I must be
Like her or like him.
You told me to be like
The way I already was.
There is a smile on my face
And you are the cause
