Remembering you at the river today
#WritcoPoemPrompt6
The river that flows down the hill,
Is never able to be a moment still,
The rocks and pebbles at it's edge,
Lie as steady as the dead,
I'm remembering you my son
Remembering that right here is where I spread your ashes and my tears started to run
Thinking of all the times we had talking shouting running playing laughing and crying
missing you dearly since you've been gone my heart inside me feels you as if you were right here with me like a butterfly flying
Watching me touch the water with my feet and wishing I could see you here swimming or even fishing enjoying yourself like we used to
But all I see is the water flowing on by and I close my eyes and start to think you swimming and having fun with your brothers and friends like you used to do
All of a sudden I start smiling and giggling and going back in time to all of us playing that game we used to in the water with the ball
I can actually see us all and you shout out mom's got the ball
then with a big slash
there you were dunking me under in a flash
I was the one that had forgotten to throw the ball
and so it was my time to fall
that game we all played in the river so many times
is what I'm imagining today and my memory is as clear as a dime
I just stand still for awhile
Remembering you and the I start to smile love you son
missing you still soon my time here will be done
and we will be together again and having fun
