I see all the beautiful relationships
Failing as tragic love stories
And I can't help but wonder
If this is why our story ended at puppy love—
When we could barely tie our shoe laces,
When sassy teen girls had to sit us,
And when our consciousness hadn't blossomed—
Just to save a hundred tears from falling,
A thousand hearts from breaking,
To end the story before an adult issue,
To end it before its inevitable ending—
All just to save broken hearts and dark days.
